MY FAVOURITE COLOUR-CORRECTING CONCEALERS….

Concealers are without a doubt the biggest must-have products to keep in your makeup bag. It covers blemishes, hides dark circles and hyperpigmentation, and basically just makes everything look even and flawless. Didn’t get enough sleep last night? Concealer. Slept in your makeup and got a few breakouts to show for it? Concealer. Need to prime your lids or lips so your makeup stays on better? Concealer. It truly is a jack-of-all-trades.

Correctors are different from concealers, because instead of “concealing??? the problem area like what a concealer does, they neutralize the area. Sometimes it is better to correct than to conceal. You want to be able to neutralize a color before adding another color on top of it. For example, if you have dark under eye circles (black/blue), concealing a color on top of another will make you look cakey and enhance the flaw. Our dark skin tones have hyperpigmentation and discoloration. They will need neutralizing colors such as oranges, peaches and bisques to counteract the darkness and neutralize.

I have tried a lot of concealers/colour correctors and I will go through some of them with you starting with my favorite:

Mac Prep+Prime in Peach Lustre

If you have dark circles under your eyes or have any hyperpigmentation on your skin, this product is the answer to your problems. My foundation colour is NC42/NC45 (I DON’T USE MAC FOUNDATION BUT I KNOW MY COLOUR) and as soon as I put this product under my eyes, my dark circles become nonexistent. Even blemishes disappear after using this corrector…. I totally recommend it for anyone with blemishes and dark circles. It’s creamy and does not crease whatsoever. I would also recommend putting concealer on top of it just so the orange/peach isn’t so noticeable.

MAC Studio Pro Conceal and Correct Palette

Packed with four different shades of Studio Finish Concealers with two Studio Finish Correctors, the Conceal and Correct Palette comes in a sleek, clear case the same size as MAC Eye shadow Quads. There are four sets of colors available – Light, Medium, Medium Deep and Dark. I got the dark because I use nc45 and I tend to always match my concealer to my skin colour. I really liked the consistency its thick, not so creamy and it has very good coverage…I love this palette because I can also use it to contour….. to me it’s worth every penny.

Make Up For Ever Camouflage Cream Palette

This was the first concealer/corrector palette I ever got, at first I was very excited because the whole idea behind this palette is great. I got it in no 4(darkest)……5 different shades that you can mix and match to conceal and correct different areas of your face.

The orange shade was very good for neutralizing dark circles. I used it sometimes with no other makeup because it worked well to brighten up my face. I would use the shade in the middle of the palette to define my brows and would mix two other shades to conceal dark spots. The texture is very light and easy to apply. The orange shade is the main reason I bought this palette because at the time I had some blemishes I was trying to hide. The consistency is too thin, it really doesn’t cover blemishes and layering this makes it too cakey. I like this palette but it is my least favorite and I won’t be buying it again.

Ps….You can get all MAC products from the store at the Palms……..

Till next time…..xoxoxo
